The stories shared in this community will be used in a Toronto-based installation artwork in February 2005. I will post where you can come and visit the artwork if you so choose.
As for the story bit I need two things if you would like to participate.
1) State one original statement debunking the myth of mental illness amongst society.
IE. The mentally ill are not criminals. We are just as any other group of people, etc.
2) I would like a story. Preferably longer than normal. It can take you a few weeks if you need it. I need a long story that would last about 10-15 minutes or more if you were to speak it aloud. The story should be about your experience of being mentally ill, what it's like, your most memorable moments. What you feel like in society, what's it like being surrounded by the people you are. Don't use these as subgroups, just as starters for ideas. Think, then type, and let it flow. Think as if you were writing say a chapter in a book or something about your personal experiences. You don't have to name what you have, or anything about you. You can say whatever you want. You can even talk about some things you like, if you feel it gets you in the right mind-set.
IE. I'm Josh, and I like cheese. I am a normal human being although once I tell people I have bipolar, they suddenly treat me like I'm crazy. ETCETC.
3) IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, COMMENTS OR CONCERNS, PLEASE... let me know :) I don't bite.
